Online Trends
Online Trends and Your Business
The Internet’s online trends have changed so rapidly in the past ten years. It can be difficult sometimes to keep up with the current online trends, but it is vitally important for your business to try. If you do not have a website for your business, you need to get one. The Yellow Pages is dead. The old marketing methods are just that; old and a thing of the past.
But even if you have a website for your business, it doesn’t guarantee you that customers are going to be beating down your doors. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Your website is just a drop in the cyber-ocean. No one is going to find your website if you don’t help them find it. Google may never find your website if you don’t direct Google to it. Believe me; if Google can’t find your website, nobody is going to find your website.
Online Trends Require More Than a Website
Let’s say that you do have a website. Maybe Google has even indexed your site. How do you rank in Google for your keywords? If you don’t show up on Google’s front page, people still may never see your site. If you don’t how you rank, or even for what key phrases you rank for, you have a lot of work ahead of you. You need to know what the most common phrases people will use to find you on the Internet, and you need to be on Google’s front page for those words.
And even if you have a website, you know what key words people search for to find your business, and you rank on Google’s front page for those terms, it still may not be enough! Do you know why? Because how people use the Internet has changed drastically in just the past couple of years!
Perhaps you’ve heard of Facebook and Twitter. You may even own an iPhone, an iPad, an Android phone, Blackberry, or some other Smartphone. And believe me, social media websites and Smartphones have not only changed how people use the Internet, they are drastically changing the way it looks!
Online Trends are Changing the Internet
Guess what, if your business doesn’t aggressively use social media, if your business doesn’t have a Facebook fan page and a Twitter account, your business is only going to fall further and further behind until it is gone. Yes, social media is that important in how people use the Internet and how they do business on the Internet. These online trends are gaining ground and show no signs of slowing down. If you’re not doing business this way, you may very well not be doing business much longer.
And the Smartphone? More and more people use their cell phones to search the Internet. You don’t only need a website; you need a website that is formatted to easily be seen on mobile phones. Do you have one of those old flash websites? If so, your site can’t even be seen on cell phones.
Today, your business not only needs a website; it needs a website that it mobile-ready. It needs to have a Facebook fan page, a Twitter account, and it needs to use them to keep in touch with your customers. And all of this on top of search engine optimization, keyword research, search engine rankings. It’s a plate full.
